Rickie Lee Jones Live

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

Thirty years after she won a Grammy for best new artist, singer-songwriter Rickie Lee Jones has an album that she says feels like her debut. The so-called “Duchess of Coolsville," joins us to talk about the healing aspect of her new album, "Balm in Gilead," and to perform live in the studio.

My first memory of RLJ was her first performandce on SNL, many yrs ago. I was just blown away.

Thank you, Rickie. I am so glad you just 'keep going though it's long past too far'.............

I had to take myself out of Venice, but nothing will ever take Venice out of me.

Rickie's music has meant the world to me. A most sublime night was spent listening to her music in total darkness. About eight of us had been out drinking and managed to stumble home, A friend John wa apparently sober enough to put her debut cd in the stereo. That album is amazing, we hung on every note. Kind of crystalized the night in everyones mind.

Rickie is like fine wine. She gets better with age. "Bonfires" brought me to tears.

Okay, it's a cliche - but RLJ has the voice of an angel. A miracle in your studio.
