Easy Star All-Stars

Monday, May 18, 2009

First it was "Dub Side of the Moon" and then "Radiodread." Now, the Easy Star All-Stars take on the most sacred album in rock 'n' roll and turn it into reggae. They join us for a live performance of songs from their record Easy Star’s Lonely Hearts.

With all due respect, Mr. Schaefer, you massacred the word, "imprimatur." It's not pronounced "im-pri-motter," it is "im-pri-mah-ter. That one hurt my ears!

The Beatles were citing reggae as early as She's A Woman. I'm sure John would be screaming downtown in a cab to sit in.

While all excellent music to cover, will the Easy Star's cover any American music makers, or does most American music not have a wealth of "concept albums"?

Folks, if you have not listened to Dub side of the Moon, and you are a Pink Floyd fan, you must listen to this, it is fantastic.

My brother instructed me (while a bit tipsy on the Jersey Shore about 10 years ago) that he wants "Spirit In the Sky" at his funeral and will play it at mine if I go first. He has since restated that desire while sober.
