Michael Giacchino

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

Composer Michael Giacchino is among the hardest working men in show biz. In addition to scoring two hit TV series - "Fringe" and "Lost" (which ends its season tonight) - he also served as the musical director at this year's Oscars and will be providing the scores for "Up," the Pixar cartoon due in theaters later this month, and "Land of the Lost," the Will Ferrell comedy due out next month. He joins us.

The oft-unsung invisible character gets the spotlight! The soundscape of Lost is so often intensely menacing and ominous, and yet so well integrated I don't even realize how much I am hearing and how powerful it is most of the time; it's just the disturbed mood it puts me in.

Thanks for the theme today and the great shows (that's both Lost and Soundcheck) y'all!

John, I like that your guest didn't obviously take the woman's voice in that high melismatic theme. It's much more subtle. Well done.
