On Tour (With a Little Help from Amtrak)

Thursday, May 07, 2009

Concert promoters aren't the only ones tightening their belts. Independent musicians are looking for ways to cut costs on tour. For one artist, gas and plane tickets were the first to go. New York singer-songwriter Reverend John Delore is traveling on Amtrak trains and Greyhound buses during a 40-date, cross-country tour. He joins us by phone from Yazoo City, Miss.

If John wants to go/is going to New Orleans, he's welcome to couchsurf at my home, uptown-on the streetcar line, where my 27 year-old son is living (we have 3 bedrooms and a great couch).

Ask him to respond to my email.

With Lincoln Center out of doors, summer dancing in lower Manhattan, Shakespeare plays proliferating all over Manhattan in the summer time, the Juilliard School, plays off off Broadway at very low prices and with more intensity and content integrity than what's on Broadway most of the time, there's no reason for anyone to be without. And don't forget the concerts in Central and Borough park, the Delacorte, The Boomerang theater company, The Classic Theater Company, all these offer accomplished performances of the greatest playwright who ever lived.
