Alexander McCall Smith is a best-selling author and a respected bioethicist. He’s also an awful bassoonist. He joins us to talk about his membership in aptly named Really Terrible Orchestra.
I was disappointed in the interviewer's inability to get past sarcasm when speaking about this orchestra. What a wonderful sense of fun and adventure this author has, to approach music with enthusiasm and also fearlessness of failure. I greatly admire Mr. Smith for his grace and love of learning.

How ironic that the Really Terrible Orchestra is flourishing while local and regional orchestras made up of professional musicians in this nation are struggling.
