David Byrne

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

Pop star David Byrne’s collaboration with producer Brian Eno in the 70s and 80s generated some of the best music either man has created to date. Last year, they teamed up again for an album called "Everything That Happens Will Happen Today." Now, Byrne is touring with that repertoire in a show that includes lots of white outfits and choreographed dancing. Byrne joins us to talk about it.

The other day I was killing time shopping in my Long Branch, NJ Lowes (like Home Depot) and the single from the new record came on. At first I couldn't place it and then remembered hearing it on their site where they stream the album. A very David Byrne environment to be in I thought, reminded me of True Stories.
I've always loved Byrne's music as well as Eno's, this sounds refreshingly unpretentious - maybe these 2 keep each other in check.

Saw the show at Radio City - Best. Show. EVER. He's simply amazing, and his graciousness is refreshing.

Inger from NH enroute to Denmark to see DB Monday

Thank you, David Byrne, for writing the soundtrack to my life. Thank you for sharing your talents with us. Thank you for setting the example of being a true individual and not being a conformist. See you at the Falkoner theatre Monday. Now if only I could find a way to Stockholm or Oslo...

An instant classic - Eno's "stellar" vocals on the title track have to be amongst the most beautiful moments of recorded music of the past few years.

What's next for David?
I loves his work with Brooklyn's "Los Amigos Invisibles".
