Until recently, QRS Music Technologies was the only continuously operating mass producer of piano rolls in the world. Mark Sommer of the Buffalo News joins us to talk about the end of an era.
Some corrections 1. We most certainly DO sell Story & Clark pianos (with and without Pianomation) in the U.S. 2. George Gershwin did not record for QRS, though some of his rolls have since been reissued on our label. An additional point worth noting: though people most often associate the piano roll with old fashioned music, it has always been current pop music that has sustained us. That may have been ragtime 100 years ago, but more recently it has been Norah Jones tunes, selections from WICKED, etc. Regards, Bob Berkman/QRS Music Technologies
