Bonnie "Prince" Billy Returns
Monday, January 12, 2009
Will Oldham has used various disguises during his 15-year career, recording under the names Palace, Palace Music, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, and yes even “Will Oldham.” The indie-folk songwriter and occasional actor (“Old Joy”) joins us for a sneak preview of his forthcoming Bonnie "Prince" Billy album, “Beware.”

i keep coming back to this recording of "You Can't Hurt Me Now," from the 1/12/09 WNYC soundcheck session.
regardless of the perfomance (which is wonderful,) the production sounds incredible... and i would love to know who was behind the magic of this one...
thanks WNYC!
I had never heard of Mr. Will Oldham before this week. I first read about him from the concert preview written in the Edmonton Journal (for his concert here March 23, 09). The thoughtfull expression on his face which appeared in the article (a photo my Jesse Fischler) prompted me to look him up on the net. What a delight listening to the songs he performed on your podcast. Thank you John for providing this interview of a terrific talent and a very gifted artist.
funny how hearing Will speak of death can make one reflect on life...
Eager for the new Bonnie. Word is this is going to be epic. Maybe I was one of the few people who didn't like Lie Down in the Light, so if it is like that, I will be seriously let down. I wish he would get back to his serious days of the 90s.
Can't wait for the new record. Always like X-Mas for me. Hail to the Prince!!
Will Oldham rocks.
thanks for the bonnie billy!
