Pepi Ginsberg

Tuesday, January 06, 2009

Brooklyn singer/songwriter Pepi Ginsberg has combined her soulful and weathered voice with imaginatively folky arrangements to create her most recent release, Red, a meditation on city life, free will and starting anew. Today, she takes a takes some time from prepping her new album to join us in the studio and discuss the album, a collaboration with Scott McMicken, front man of psychedelic rock group Dr. Dog.

Good show. Waterline was a bit off tune and played with a wandering melody that could be described as pretty and dreamlike by some or unrefined by others. But the performance came off as soulful regardless. As far as Coca Cola, great song and beautifully performed - not lacking in any way played live. Whoever made negative comments about this show probably didn't listen to the whole thing.

Red is one of my favorite albums of the year. Not really sure what the crazy commenters above are talking about.

Never listened to your show before, John, but I'll tune back in. Excellent taste!

John-I apologise. I love you and your show and enjoy the exposure I get to musicians I would not ordinarily get to hear, but (and I really do not mean to offend her and would die if she ever saw my comment) she is not worthy of your show....terrible-------

On the rockers turned kid music stars who've kept their rock texture -- don't forget the local NY/NJ Mr. Ray.
