Rinde Eckert

Friday, December 11, 2009

Musicians have been drawn to the Greek myth of Orpheus for literally thousands of years. Now, singer and composer Rinde Eckert has taken the lyre out of Orpheus' hands and replaced it with an electric guitar. He and his band play music from his work "Orpheus X," live in our studio.

I loved this music. Its been rattling in my head since the show aired. I'm not sure what ''self indulgence'' the commenters above are talking about.... I thought it was beautiful and enchanting.

I saw this show and the music is simply captivating in context with the text and visual elements. Gorgeous work. I absolutely loved it!

So I’m not the only one wondering if this is self-indulgent ---- or if I’m just an old troglodyte.
Pretty much lost me at the Malcolm X-esque explanation of the title.
…and out goes the earbuds.

Is there anything pleasant in this music or is it all just arrhythmic, non melodious self-indulgence that we've been hearing?
