Between his career with The Police and as a solo artist, Sting has accumulated countless Grammys and sold almost 100 million albums. He set his sights on the classical world with his latest project, a dramatization of the romantic relationship between German composer Robert Schumann and his wife, pianist and composer Clara Wieck. Sting plays Schumann and his wife, actress and producer Trudie Styler, plays Clara in a piece that is on a DVD called Twin Spirits. He joins us today.

Regarding Sting's recording 'Soul Cake,' a song that John said he'd never heard of, the title sounded familiar when mentioned but once I heard it, it's one and the same done by Peter, Paul and Mary. Perhaps their version wasn't called 'Soul Cake' or was maybe part of a medley, but I can't find it on any of my old PP&M albums. I'm pretty sure they recorded it. Any info?
Sting, your music based on Elizabethan tunes is fantastic, however children today need to grow a musical foundation in order to listen to it. All children should be taught to play a musical instrument, sing and dance. Music and dance teachers will be employed and the rest of us will benefit from positive energy that is generated through music and learned movement. Imagine kids in the public schools playing music, singing and dancing instead of screaming at football games, getting injured and perpetuating a sport that smacks of barbarism. The emphasis of music and dance should be on fun and in-person communication not stardom. Incorporating new habits of music and dance into our society will help heal our increasingly fractured world. Sting, talk to the policy makers and help get music into the schools. Thanks!
Someone from the Live Performances dept should tell the Broadcasting division that tonight's event at the Greene Space is "by invitation only." At least according to the Greene Space website (http://beta.wnyc.org/thegreenespace/events/2009/dec/03/twin-spirits-sting-and-wife-trudie-styler/)
I enjoy the Police and some of Sting's music...his voice here is HORRIBLE. Way to drawn out and tonal. Yuk
