Johnny Flynn

Tuesday, September 16, 2008

Johnny Flynn, a London-based singer-songwriter, has an accomplished resume that includes working as a Shakespearean stage actor. His lyrics have a strong literary bent while his sound draws heavily on the traditional English folk foundation. Today, the former busker performs songs from his new album, "A Larum."

I really like Johnny Flynn's music. With his strong British accent and lyrics ("smoking fags and drinking tea") it's *very* English sounding. I wonder if he's self-conciously English-- like the Kinks.

On "tickle me Pink" is that the base line from "girls" by the Bestie Boys?

I like it though.
