The team of cellist Matt Haimovitz and his pianist friend Geoff Burleson, have just released "Odd Couple," a CD on Haimovitz's own Oxingale label. While it may seem rather conventional for a cellist who has has played in rock clubs and dive bars, founded a cello band -- UCCELLO -- and delved into the folk music of Eastern Europe, it's hardly predictable romp through the standard repertoire. Today, Haimovitz and Burleson join us to perform from the CD, which consists of four piano and cello pieces by American composers Elliott Carter, David Sanford, Samuel Barber, and Augusta Reed Thomas.
Matt Haimovitz,Geoff Burleson, and DJ Olive perform tonight at Le Poisson Rouge, with doors at 7 p.m.
