I'm looking forward to the Molson Concert Series in Buffalo. My new favorite Eric Solomon is performing and i can't wait. His music is so soulful and smooth! Should be alot of fun!

Manuel Göttsching's famous solo composition E2-E4 (1981) is first of all Minimal Music and not "Techno" as John Schaefer commented on the show. That's why this important work has been selected as the center piece of Lincoln's summer series Wordless Music, dedicated to 800 years of Minimalism: http://www.lincolncenter.org/show_events_list.asp?eventcode=-62531. :-)
And, allmusic.com gave E2-E4 the very rare 5 Stars because of its importance and influence for the development of Electronic Music.
Of course it is aslo true that the Techno and Dance Movement started may be even after this album by Manuel Göttsching was released, as REMIX MAGAZIN writes in the article START OF ART: http://remixmag.com/mag/remix_manuel_gottsching/, but REMIX also mentions that this piece belongs to the repertoire of the contemporary ZEITKRATZER ensemble equally and, is performed by classic pianist as jazz musicians alike.

This isn't in New York and I'd love to keep this to myself (and to those that knows this) but the Montreal Jazz Festival (June 26 to July 6) is a must see, regardless or irregardless whether you're a jazz fan.

What about MGMT @ McCarren Park pool on 7/27? If they can bring the energy of Oracular Spectacular into their live show I'm sure the hipsters will be going crazy!

Lyle Lovett!!! at the Beacon. He's very underappreciated but spectacular. A real eccentric Texan.

The Two big things I'm looking forward to are Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings with The Menahan Street Band and another Daptone Records artist. Amazing new Soul music from Brooklyn. The other show is Gogol Bordello at McCarren Park. They are probably the best live band I've seen in the last five years.

The Gathering of the Vibes will take place in Bridgeport, CT.

When and where is the Radiohead, Cat Power, New Pornographers concert?

I started things off last night with a wonderful free show at Castle Clinton as part of the River to River Festival -- Abigail Washburn (and Bela Fleck). I am quite excited for Umphrey's McGee at STS9 at Roseland Ballroom, My Morning Jacket at Radio City, Radiohead as part of All Points West, Wilco at McCarren Park Pool, free Punch Brothers (featuring Chris Thile) as part of the River to River Fest. Other shows include MMW with Ribot at Prospect Park, The Omega Moos boat cruise, free Beth Orton, Los Lobos, Sharon Jones . . .

To break it up, I have a trip to Bonnaroo in Tennessee to cover all the bases.

And as was mentioned, bands are playing famous albums -- I have a ticket to see Built to Spill play Perfect From Now On.

Great summer, concert wise. I'm looking forward to Thievery Corporation (live) with Seu Jorge featuring Special Guests Bebel Gilberto & Federico Aubele and Turntables on the Hudson, Thursday, June 26, 2008, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Central Park SummerStage.

Some great local park series: Con Vivo, free chamber music around Jersey City all June (www.convivojerseycity.org) and the Osso String Quartet playing at Ditmas Park in Brooklyn on June 12. Free music is the best!

The prog rock scene. Bring a pillow, nap on the grass surrounded by guys in their fifties.

I love My Bloody Valentine's music, but their live shows have historically been pretty bad. I can understand adding them here for the chance to see an old band (again), but really, they aren't a show to catch for quality. Kevin shields himself has admitted this.

there's something for everyone wherever you go. I looked at what's happening at the venue that used to be the Westbury Music Fair (it's now the "The Capital One Bank Theatre at Westbury" after a stint with North Fork Bank).
This list spans all genres (except classical) - Chuck Mangione with Spyro Gyra, Chuck Berry with Little Richard, Trisha Yearwood with Lori McKenna, Charlie Daniels Band with 38 Special, Steve Winwood, Peter, Paul & Mary, Lyle Lovett, Patti LaBelle, and Ringo - and that's just June.

You are conveniently and typically ignoring the prog-rock scene. Yes and Rush and both coming to the PNC Arts Center in New Jersey in July and August. Then there is the NEAR Fest in Bethlehem, PA at Lehigh University. It's June 19, 20, and 21. It's ten prog-rock bands including Synergy, Liquid Tension Experiment, and Peter Hammill of Van Der Graaf Generator. Please mention this on your show if possible. Please don't ignore prog-rock.
