Brazilian percussionist Cyro Baptista is a regular fixture in the New York stages, playing with people like Paul Simon, Herbie Hancock and Yo Yo Ma. He joins us to talk about his new album, Banquet of the Spirits, which mixes the sounds of Brazil with avant-garde jazz and rock.
Cyro Baptista and The Banquet of the Spirits perform this Thursday at Joe's Pub at 7:30 and 9:30 pm, and Saturday for Music Works for Peace in Montclair, NJ, at 7:30 pm.

Hey Soundcheck listeners-
Are you aware that you can listen to John and his guests on FM and stream wnyc2 music on you computer?
All computer in your situation? Well, I can actually launch one stream, e.g., Soundcheck, with one player, and wnyc2 in another player.
I remember Cyro Baptista from Paul Simon's Concert in the Park, which I had on tape and now on DVD.
I still play it after all of these years, and it is still fresh.
