Jonathan Meiburg is the golden-throated songwriter (and part-time ornithologist) at the heart of the Austin-based rock band Shearwater. Two years ago, the group gained wide acclaim for the disturbing ballads and soaring vocals on the album, "Palo Santo." Shearwater's fifth release, "Rook," might be even better. They join us for a live performance.

I saw this show in Brooklyn and it was absolutely brilliant.
Shearwater's tune 'Red Sea, Black Sea' has been in rotation on my zombiePod for the past month or so. I have to admit though - I'm a sucker for pop sea shanties.
I love this band! Not sure why you're ribbing them so much about the song topics and inspiration. I hope you are kidding, they are one of the better bands playing today in my opinion. Be nice!
