Baby Dee

Friday, February 01, 2008

Baby Dee started her career strumming the harp in Central Park. The Cleveland native went on to perform in a Coney Island sideshow (as the "bilateral hermaphrodite," play organ in a South Bronx church, and work with Antony and the Johnsons. Her latest solo album, Safe Inside the Day, sounds anything but safe. She performs live in our studio.

It's Great. I can relate it to Kurt Weill, The Tiger Lillies & Even Stravinski's Histoire Soldat.

Wow, this is incredible music! I love this so much and am not surprised some folks out there are so outraged - that's usually what's happened historically to all the great works.

Baby Dee is AMAZING.

John usually has his ears to the ground pretty well on NYC's music scene. It's not worth getting so bent out of shape because one artist isn't 100 percent to your liking.

Yeah, the music also carries qualities comparable to dog crap. Stop trying to find the good in crap music

I just wanted to support 'John' in the pursuit of unique sounds. As awkward and eccentric as Baby Dee's music is, not to mention 'her' interview, I found myself online looking further into it.

This way little niche is up and coming. The music carries qualities comparable to that of Devotchka, Reverend Glasseye, Munly, and yes, Tom Waits, which are super noteworthy musicians.

I can't say I know anything about her lifestyle or wether i even condone such but I do know that the adversity of life delivers an incredible ability to facilitate great inspiration.

Props for reeling in what's way out there John!

It is unfortunate that a show about a shortage of rehearsal space in NYC did not feature any one how is actually building rehearsal facilities.

I have no idea what your talking about but okay. I think even Tiny Tim would think this stuff is unnecessarily bad

Zach,

The label that is releasing this CD? This is not a release . . . it's an ESCAPE!!!!

Makes me long for the days of Tiny Tim and Mrs. Miller . . . maybe Baby Dee is their illegitimate love child!!!
