Bacharach to the Future

Friday, December 12, 2008

Along with Lennon & McCartney, Gershwin and Porter, Burt Bacharach is increasingly ranked among the 20th century’s great pop composers. He has collaborated on 48 Top 10 hits, including classics like “The Look Of Love,” “Close To You” and “What The World Needs Now.” He has also inspired the likes of Elvis Costello and John Zorn. Bacharach joins us to look back at his six-decade career and share his latest album, "Live at the Sydney Opera House."

What a great interview. He sounds like he's 20! He's a genius.

Great show on budget music presents. Would be even better if you posted some of the picks on this site for those of us who are infirm or in the car while listening but still would like to participate fully.

Thank you
Jane

Hi Rahi Mah,

Thanks for your comment. We did mention Dionne Warwick in the interview and we played one of her songs. You might have missed part of it. The whole segment will be available in our website later today, in case you want to listen to it again. Thanks,

how in the name of all decency could you and burt bacharach talk about his musical career his 41 hits without mentioning dionne warwick's name. come on now. you could NOT avoid playing her signature renditions of his trite formulaic canon. was it a blood pact not to mention her name. the best thing was the mercifully short sound of his voice attempting to cover his song. credit where credit is due. no one would know burt bacharach if dionne had not sang his songs. how sad and pathetic that he or you could not mention her name. elvis costello you wish!

I have been Burt-en-ized!

I gave Burt a tee shirt in October with this saying!
