The Hold Steady

Wednesday, August 27, 2008

The Hold Steady's fourth album, "Stay Positive," hit iTunes in June with an opening song that promised, "We're gonna build something this summer." We'll find out if songwriter/frontman Craig Finn and guitarist Tad Kubler accomplished what they set out to do, having starred in a recent sketch on CBS' "The Late Show With David Letterman."

ANYWAY. The Hold Steady are probably my favorite "standard" rock band working today. "Stay Positive" the track is wonderful, self-referential, and defines the group's message (to me) as concisely as possible.

Or, I suppose, I could just say "WOOOOOOO!"

Why are people who insist on purchasing physical music "luddites"? We aren't people who disregard album art and liner notes philistines?
