Scuse Me While I Kiss the Sky

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

It has long been acknowledged that Jimi Hendrix died under suspicious circumstances in 1970. Now, David Henderson's sprawling 1978 biography "Scuse Me While I Kiss the Sky," has been published in a revised edition that presents never-before-published information about the hours leading up to Hendrix's death. The new information challenges whether Hendrix really died of a drug overdose – the accepted version of his death for nearly 40 years – and raises the question of whether he was a victim of foul play. Henderson joins us to share his findings.

When I was a kid everyone was reading this book No One Here Gets Out Alive about Jim Morrison and his mysterious death. Did he fake it?
My cousin had a funny comment- If he did fake his death he probably died a couple weeks later.

I've read and seen and heard a lot about Jimi's last years as I am a big fan. Although I doubt he he was suicidal- people that knew him would all agree that he was proned to anger, depression and self-destruction- a common symptom among talented musicians. Add this w a corrupt manager, hangers on, countless yesmen and stockpiles of drugs in an age where no one said no- Let alone the exaulted king of the psychedelic age. Massive amounts of LSD alone (which no one would deny he embibed in) can cause confusion and emotional problems in dealing w day to day life. Stardom, drugs and the 60s killed Hendrix as they killed Morrison, Joplin, Cobain, etc, etc.

Everytime someone famous dies tragically as the result of a dumb accidental overdose- everyone wants to believe there's more to the story. Sadly- I don't think so.

Let's not forget the "mysterious" plane crash of Otis Redding, the "shooting" of Sam Cooke" the plane crash that took the lives of Buddy Holly, Richie Valens (the first Latino rocker), and Big Bopper, and, and...
Look boys and girls, sometimes things happen in this world that are not nice. I knew someone who kept on insisting that Bob Marley was assassinated because he couldn't believe that there was such a thing as brain cancer. Well, there is and, like it or not, accidents DO happen.

The sadness of the truth that the good die young and the evil S.O.B.'s of the world live on and corrupt the world with their greed is once again proven true. As mentioned, the questions probably are more important than the answers

Sorry, rock stars don't change the world, no matter how much we love them. If they live to middle or old age, they end up an oldies act and their powerful"revolutionary" music is used in TV commercials. If they die young, we're sure they would've never ended up an oldies act. No, their accomplishments would've changed everything, so the CIA had to act.

ah jimi...chief genius of the electric guitar.

perhaps the greatest mystery here is not exactly how did he die....it is.....what would he have accomplished had he lived?

would he have become redundant and faded....or broken through to a whole other level?

sadly we will never know.

Let's see... deaths of JFK, RFK, MLK, Malcom X, John Lennon, Jimmie Hendrix.. who all had tremendous influence over masses of people to challenge the "establishment". See a link?...
