Re: Sherrill Milnes: for over thirty years I have had a subscription to the Met Opera and Sherrill Milnes was responsible for it. In either 1975 or 76,our library offered subscriptions to the Met with a Chartered Bus. I went for a while, & was very disappointed with the performances. Then, I saw/heard Sherrill Milnes in Masked Ball. His performance, singing and acting, was electrifying. the opera, for the first time came alive!!! So, I subscribed to Weds (3 or 5) for over thirty years. He is wonderful. Not only his voice, but he can act!! Early on, one of the elderly women, told me her father had taken her to see Chaliapin in Moscow. She said just the way Milnes positioned his legs & feet reminded her of Chaliapin. Thanks so much Mr. Milnes for your performances. I really miss him, but cherish the memories of his performances. I last saw him in Traviata as Germond (sp?) You have given us so many years of pleasure, beautiful music and insights into character.
