Since picking up the accordion 20 years ago, Rachelle Garniez has performed in New York clubs, on subway platforms, and in Carnival festivities in Venice. Rachelle joins us to play selections from her cabaret-flavored new album, "Melusine Years."

Now now, let's not be be mean.

I remember hearing somebody reminiscing, and he told about first hearing some instrument, was completely blown away by it, and asked his mother what was _that_?

An accordion, she said.

THAT's what I want to play, he said.

Struck me as funny because I found it hard to conceive that such reaction could be sparked by an accordion (tho that's how I felt about the tenor sax).

Still, I admired the guy; such a passionate reaction to music, in whatever form, is wonderful and thrilling.
