Critics' Week, Soundcheck's look at the year 2005 in music, kicks off with a look at the highlights of music technology. David Pogue, technology columnist for the New York Times and a reporter for CBS News discusses the best in everything from gadgets to music on the Web. Also, John Tibbetts, professor of theater and film at the University of Kansas and author of Composers in the Movies, discusses the year in music and film. He'll examine the rap sequences in Hustle and Flow and the British music hall numbers of Mrs. Henderson Presents, among others. Finally, jazz pianist and composer Ran Blake has a new recording of music inspired by film noir, that moody genre of doom and double-crossing. He joins us along with guitarist David Fabris, to perform live his interpretations of music from Hitchock films, among others.
