“Lullabies from the Axis of Evil” is a new album featuring 14 lullabies from Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan and Cuba. They are performed in their original form by women from these countries, and in English by versions artists like Nina Hagen, Eddi Reader, Sarah Jane Morris, and Lila Downs. Erik Hillestad, the album’s creator and producer joins us to discuss the concept behind this unusual compilation. Also stopping by is Dan Bern, a singer who has been frequently compared to the feisty, nasal Bob Dylan, circa 1964. His CD “My Country II” presents his presidential campaign agenda, which the Philadelphia Daily News calls “an amusing and stinging attack on guess who – and a platform of good ideas.”
