The violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg tends to inspire sharply divided opinions: some savor the emotional intensity and rawness of her playing; others find it aggressive and attention-grabbing. Nonetheless, when she takes the stage with the fiery pianist Anne-Marie McDermott the chemistry and sheer compatibility is often undeniable. Both artists join John Schaefer today to discuss their first-ever CD, being recorded live at Merkin Concert Hall this week and featuring works by Schubert, Poulenc and Beethoven.
