California-based composer John Adams is one of the most frequently performed living American composers. However, many performances of his music are done on the West Coast and New Yorkers do not get enough chances to hear it. Lincoln Center is remedying that problem with an Adams retrospective this spring. Today on Soundcheck, he sits down to talk about his career and the retrospective. Also, we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of piano legend Rudolf Serkin with the help of WNYC’s own Sara Fishko and the author of a recent biography on Serkin, Stephen Lehmann.
