For many years Steinway & Sons has been synonymous with the finest craftsmanship in piano making. Today on Soundcheck, we celebrate Steinway's 150th anniversary with the help of piano authority Stuart Isacoff. He tells us about the history of the keyboard and the important part that Steinway pianos have played in many different genres of music. Also, the Brentano String Quartet stop by to talk about J.S. Bach’s monumental "Art of the Fugue," and how they just commissioned 10 composers to write responses to 10 pieces from that collection. The Brentanos play one of those commissions for us, an exclusive peek at their upcoming concert at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
