George Crumb describes his piece Black Angels as “the essential polarity of God versus devil.” Today, we study this polarity with the help of the Miro Quartet, who are performing this haunting masterpiece live in our studio. And, saxophonist Ellery Eskelin will talk to us about a new PBS documentary he is involved with on the subject of song-poem music that his father, Rodd Keith, was famous for writing.
