Soundcheck Workshop
After a summer hiatus, we'll return with a new timeslot, an expanded website and a lineup of live events.
The weather’s getting warmer, birds are singing - time to seize the day and break out that old French horn you haven’t played since high school. On our last show before our Summer Workshop begins, John Schaefer asks you to commit to a summer music resolution, whether it’s picking up a new instrument, seeing a great concert, or getting through that music documentary you’ve been meaning to watch. Plus: The London-based band Micachu and the Shapes performs live.
As you've probably heard by now, we're taking a short hiatus from the airwaves - to return after Labor Day in a new evening timeslot. So, what are we up to? We're busy in the Soundcheck Workshop, building a better show. We're also diving into 10 years worth of archives to bring you a daily podcast we're calling "Today in Soundcheck History."
Today, you can hear a fun, and funny conversation about actors crossing over into pop music with Billboard editor Joe Levy. And, a performance - plus some tales of bad behavior - from the British art-punk band Art Brut. They'd just released the 2009 album "Art Brut Vs Satan."
