Hackasaurus Design Challenge at Young Maker Pavilion

Saturday, September 17, 2011 - 09:50 PM

On Saturday, September 17th Graduate Rookie, Andrea Lee Torres takes part in one of the Design Challenges by Hackasaurus.org at World Maker Faire 2011 with Hive Learning NYC.  Andrea tells us about her experience.

I participated in the first event, “Hack a Website in 15 Minutes or Less,” designed to encourage people to learn about web design. Basically, there is a tool that can be downloaded and placed in the toolbar of the Firefox browser. What people can do is change certain words of a website. During this process, one can learn about html and the structure of a website. As Hackasaurus instructor, Jess was explaining to me about the event, I didn’t really understand at first why it was important or useful, but, when I tried it out I understood how awesome it is! The things that you change can only be seen to you and, in a way, can empower you to take initiative to speak for yourself. It was so cool – I’m thinking of trying it at home!
