Goat on a Cow

Tuesday, September 11, 2007

Producer and gumshoe Laura Starecheski brings us along on a hunt that traverses the country, and time. The mystery to unravel? A box of old letters found on the side of the road by Erick Gordon. Git your teeth ready for a nail-bitin' chase through clues and suspects--a Manhattan middle school teacher, homesick WWII soldiers, Rte 101, an estranged wife and mother from the past, Bob and Carol, unfriendly landowners--that all revolve around, yes, a goat standing on a cow.

OK, so I am sitting in my car listening to radiolab, specifically the part of this story where Laura is about to present Erick with the newspaper clippings, and I start bawling my eyes out. The tension in Erick's voice, resonating with my own appreciation of the immense meaning implied in this exchange, the embedded illusions and possibility of their crumbling destruction impregnated in what Laura is about to say - so I start laughing, and crying simultaneously - laughing because I feel such a sensitive fool, and to ease my own tension at the compression of meaning in this story.

I want to thank you and let you know what an amazing work this is. I cannot express my appreciation enough - meaning, and stories full of meaning have such value for me.

I also cried when I heard the rat laughter in another episode - truly great moments in my life thanks to your amazing work.

    Keep well

    Clint
