Remember

Friday, July 23, 2004

Remember…the image is hazy, impressionistic, voices are mere echoes, the lens gradually becomes covered in cheesecloth giving the image a ghostly quality. Recall a few weeks ago, on June 11, Radio Lab looked at how memory works. You can listen to that show. This week, Radio Lab unlocks the vaults, dips into bottomless well, and remembers.

Jungles of Memory

Vietnam veteran James P. McMullen lives in the Everglades, where the jungles are as thick as Vietnam. His work in the jungle, tracking and protecting the endangered Florida Panther, has become a way to make peace with his memories of the war.
Produced by Jay Allison with Christina Egloff. Music by Stacy Bowers, Gary Kvistead and Stew Quimby.
Aired in 1989 on the documentary program Soundprint
