Teen Diaries, Whose Line Is It Anyway and Rythmn N Blues
Sunday, September 22, 2002
This week, Radio Lab starts off with a couple stories that don't have much in common except 1) they're great, and 2) the characters are in various stages of a revolt against the idea of normal. In the second hour, a visit to the comedy club that invented improv, and then onward and upwards with our journey towards RnB glory.

Atonement, Quilting and Knitting and the History of Rhythm 'n Blues
Sunday, September 15, 2002
In the spirit of Yom Kippur, we begin this week's Radio Lab with an hour dedicated to atonement: 3 young men, ex-prisoners, try to turn their lives around, make up for the past. During the second hour, real live comedy on public radio! We get to know the comedy club that launched Bill Murray, Dan Akroid, Mike Myers and nearly the entire cast of SNL. And, lastly, we return to our ongoing series on the history of rhythm n blues with a look at the humble beginnings of Atlantic records.
Pre-Disaster, the Aftermath and Spiritual Fallout
Sunday, September 08, 2002
We start this week's program with a sonic walk through the aftermath: Ash, emotions, uninhibited outbursts, political pronouncements lose their original separateness and instead blend together in a soup of indecipherable meaning. In the second hour: a look back at the history of the World Trade Center towers, PRE-disaster. And in the last hour, we revisit the church-like spiritual charge in the air those first few days at Ground Zero.
Retrospection
Sunday, September 01, 2002
This week, a little retrospection. First, a fleeting glimpse of New York professions on their way out, Next up, the story of how advertising went from a travelling medicine man to Times Square. And last but not least it's time to tap your toes again, as we head back to the origins of Rhythm and Blues.
