Evolution vs. Unintelligent Design

Saturday, October 29, 2005

Steve Post welcomes a return visit by Richard Milner, whose one-man show – “Charles Darwin: Live & in Concert” – was featured on The NO SHOW some months ago. This time, Milner – a cultural warrior in the Evolution vs. Unintelligent Design arena – discusses the upcoming “Darwin & Evolution” issue of Natural History Magazine. Against all odds, Milner wrings some laughs from this unlikely source and edifies Steve considerably. Milner’s music informs the process.

It's Pledge Time at WNYC

Saturday, October 22, 2005

Just when you thought it was safe to put your wallet away—oh, oh—it’s pledge time at WNYC. Steve Post is on the case with his repertoire of time-honored fundraising techniques: puling, mewling, whimpering, whining, and general self-abasement. (Caution: Not for all tastes, but if you enjoy the suffering of others – and which of us does not? – this is don’t-miss radio.) The music is a form of extortion.

Goodman

Saturday, October 15, 2005

More than four decades after the fact, new criminal charges have been brought in the murders of Andrew Goodman, James Cheney, and Mickey Schwerner, young civil rights workers in Mississippi. Steve Post talks with Dr. Carolyn Goodman, Andrew’s 89-year-old mother, about the coming trials, her participation, and the film she is producing on the matter. The music is of or about the civil rights movement. This program first aired in April, 2005, and is rebroadcast on the occasion of Dr. Goodman’s 90th birthday.

A Very Special No Show

Saturday, October 01, 2005

Steve Post is literally The NO SHOW this week. His producer and pinch-hitter, Frank Millspaugh, strives mightily to fill his shoes, but Steve has far too many shoes. Fortunately, Jay Leonhart, bassist and humorist, saves the day, or what is left of it, with a studio performance and interview.
