The Stupidity of Intelligent Design
Saturday, March 26, 2005
The subject this week is Charles Darwin and the stupidity of Intelligent Design. Steve Post, host of The NO SHOW, leans heavily on his guest, Richard Milner, who bears up pretty well under the strain. Milner is a science historian, anthropologist, songwriter, and performer of his one-man show, "Charles Darwin: Live & in Concert." Need we say more? Probably not, but we will.
A Cornucopia of Corn
Saturday, March 19, 2005
A cornucopia of, well, corn this week as the subjects range from socks (the kind you wear on your feet, not take on the jaw) to sweaty palms to edible money. Hear Steve overmodulate with excitement. Listen to Frank try to pronounce the letter “w.” Musical theme: Skip James and followers.
Bayard Rustin
Saturday, March 12, 2005
This week The No Show is dedicated to the life, work, and music of civil rights leader, Bayard Rustin, the architect of the 1964 March on Washington for Freedom and Jobs. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s chief strategist and labor leader A. Philip Randolph’s right hand man, Rustin was nonetheless little known to the general public because of his homosexuality. Steve Post interviews Walter Naegle, Rustin’s long-term companion and literary executor since Rustin’s death in 1987 and share memories of the man and his times. The music selections demonstrate Rustin’s amazing gifts as a singer.
First Job in Radio
Saturday, March 05, 2005
Steve Post, the host with the most, recounts his first job in radio as bookkeeper for a public radio station whose name cannot be mentioned so it is identified only by its initials: WBAI. Be listening as Steve trashes Quakers, the former president of Pacifica, and much of the 1960’s. The music will make you feel young again, momentarily.
