February 2003

Episode #29

Saturday, February 22, 2003

Things get down to serious business on the occasion of WNYC's winter membership drive. Important issues are at stake, and Steve Post will not let you forget it this time. Reflect on the many nanoseconds of pleasure you have received from The No Show. Consider the possibly OK times to be had in the future. Marvel at Steve's ability to say, "Your money or your life!" in seventy-two languages including Sanskrit (in which the phrase first appears). Listeners are advised to emulate the Colonel Pepper of ballad fame in his decision to "stand and deliver." Be listening. It's in your own best interests. The music selections this week are particularly predictable.

Episode #28

Saturday, February 15, 2003

This week Steve Post is joined by his favorite exponent of evolutionary psychology, Emily Levine (pictured), and his only producer, Frank Millspaugh, in a candid exchange of gunfire on the subject of Love and War. Hear Steve on Valentine's Day and self-image in the adolescent boy. Hear Emily on evidence of coded messages imbedded in New York Times' text. Hear Frank become increasingly inaudible as the hour wears on and on and on. Listener(s) will be invited to phone in their views on a phone number which will be announced only once during the hour and that in a hurried, slurred delivery like all those people who leave interminable messages on your answering machine and then at the very end leave their phone number in under one-hundredths of a second so you have to listen to the same damn message all over again to get the phone number, sometimes several times. Forget music.

Episode #27

Saturday, February 08, 2003

Steve Post is "On the Road...Again." The No Show's road warrior incarnate relates his continuing odyssey on the highways and byways of America. Share Steve's misgivings about the mysterious musician who spends so much time in rest stop restrooms. Be with Steve as he is embraced by the long arm of Indiana law. Listen as he begs, "Get this monkey off my back!" As always, Steve's musical selections will baffle and annoy you.

Episode #26

Saturday, February 01, 2003

In the wake of the Columbia space shuttle disaster on Saturday The No Show devoted an hour to musical selections by Beethoven, Bach, and Schubert, as well as several spirituals.
