Flansburgh is a founding member of They Might Be Giants, a rock band from Brooklyn that recently celebrated their twentieth year with a GRAMMY and the theatrical release of the feature-length film "Gigantic" that documents their highly unusual career. Following up on the extraordinary success of their children's album "No!" Simon and Schuster has just publish They Might be Giants' first book "Bed, Bed, Bed" with illustrations by fine artist Marcel Dzama.
Flansburgh has appeared on many NPR shows as a guest and musical contributor, and has produced themes for Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Malcolm In The Middle, The Oblongs, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, ABC's Nightline, The Leonard Lopate Show, To the Best of Our Knowledge, The Wrong Coast, Resident Life, as well as music for advertising: Coca-Cola, Chrysler, The Gap, Pizza Hut, six spots for Diet Dr. Pepper, Cartoon Network, New York Lotto.
Flansburgh has worked as a video director, creating award-winning videos for other bands as well as his own. His credits include Frank Black, Soul Coughing, Ben Folds Five, Harvey Danger, Mono Puff, and Edwyn Collins. He also directed five segments for ABC's Nightline.
Flansburgh is also slated to appear in the off-Broadway production of the rock musical "People Are Wrong!" and is the voice of Play Doh's Doh Doh Island TV commercials.
