New music for piano is offered up on this edition of New Sounds, which features several “minimalist” pieces, including music by Dutch composer Simeon Ten Holt, whose music relies not only on repetition, but also an absence of time. There’ll be selections from Michael Nyman’s soundtrack to “The Piano” along with some of Philip Glass’ “Etudes for Piano”, from his recent release on Orange Mountain Music. Plus, piano works by Robert Samarotto, from his Little Piano Book, and more.
