    In January 2002, the third annual New York Guitar Festival/New Sounds Live gave 92nd Street Y audiences an eclectic marathon program of classical, jazz, blues, and international guitar styles. Highlights of that nine-hour extravaganza are featured in this installment of New Sounds, with the Assad Brothers (pictured) playing "Sete Aneis" by Egberto Gismonti; Bill Frisell and Greg Leisz performing West African songs for guitar and slide guitar; Keba Cissoko performing on the West African kora; Bucky Pizzarelli and Frank Vignola playing standards like "Nuages," by Django Reinhardt; The New World Guitar Trio and more.

In Robert Moran's Kitchen

New Sounds

From October 30, 1989, the infamous "cooking show" with composer/raconteur Robert Moran. Recorded while cooking an Indian dinner in John Schaefer's kitchen, for reasons still not entirely clear. Along the way, we hear an "acoustic" version of Cage's 0:00 - for amplification of chopping vegetables and blender. And don't miss the teary conversation as onions are chopped. View the the recipes.
