His CD Electric Sufi unites jazz improvisation, ethnic roots, funk grooves and electronics into a novel West-Eastern amalgam. Guitarist Nguyen Lewas born in Paris, but both his parents were Vietnamese, and the music of his ancestral homeland has forms an important strand in his work.
