Music from pianist/composer Neil Cowley, (otherwise known as Adele's pianist on "21") and the post-jazz/post-rock Neil Cowley Trio is front and center on this New Sounds program. There's a brand-new recording, "The Face Of Mount Molehill," which brings Eno alum guitarist Leo Abrahams, along with string quartet, The Mount Molehill Strings, into the proceedings. Reflective and stabby, lyrical yet rocking, there'll be generous sampling from it.
There's also a bit of music from Brad Mehldau Trio's latest, "Ode," a collection songs that "are tributes to someone else...without all those pesky words." Plus, music from Keith Jarrett's record "Radiance" and more.

Small Acoustic Ensembles
For this New Sounds, hear some music from violinist/composer Jenny Scheinman, along with something from violinist Carla Kihlstedt & percussionist/keyboardist Matthias Bossi. These two, Kihlstedt & Bossi, have another record of music for dance, Still You Lay Dreaming: Tales for the Stage, II, a companion album to their 2009 release, Ravish, and Other Tales for the Stage. Also, indie chamber music from Clogs, and chamber folk from the Penguin Cafe Orchestra (not to be confused with the newly-formed "Penguin Cafe," which features founding member Simon Jeffes' son, Arthur.)
