Episode #3312
Ecstatic Music Festival: Nick Zammuto & Jason Treuting
Tuesday, March 13, 2012
From the New Sounds Live concert series recorded last month, listen to some distinctly oddball works by Jason Treuting (of So Percussion) and Nick Zammuto (ex The Books) on this program. There’s a multi-media work based around an instructional video for autoharp, a work involving a spelling bee, and a bucolic piece revolving around a slideshow of rude gestures.
Nick Zammuto, (formerly of the Books) along with the janus trio meditate on "The Fig and the Finger," a lovely work for harp, flute, violin, and spoken word. The well-timed work was synced to a series of images like this…[(the Fig)], and kept the audience a-giggle. Then, founding member of So Percussion Jason Treuting, together with Zammuto, wrote a work around the idea of an infomercial, incorporating Greg McMurray (of itsnotyouitsme) on guitar. There’s also a work rooted in an instructional video for learning the autoharp which Zammuto chopped and re-assembled. For that live duo, Nick plays guitar, and Treuting plays live percussion. Plus, the spelling bee work, called “12 words,” (and sadly, no laser show for the radio.)

I don't usually stay up this late but this evening it was certainly worth it. Thanks for this fantastic show. I loved the creativity.
