Episode #3286
Caucasus Mountain Music
Wednesday, January 04, 2012
Watch out for more music for the duduk (a reed instrument indigenous to Armenia) than you can shake a stick at! We'll hear from the Gurdjieff Folk Instruments Ensemble, along with music from Andrew Cronshaw's latest cross-cultural collaboration (Armenian & British), "The Unbroken Surface of Snow," at times an unlikely combination of zither and duduk.
There's also traditional Georgian music in choral arrangements and in a solo clarinet version by Evan Ziporyn. Plus, music from the Greek singer Savina Yannatou and her band, in Armenian.

music from the heart, between two world music, the Caucasus is among the walkers gnade steppe toward the sunrise and sunset of those.
Thank you to Gurdjieff for allowing us to make this journey of adventure of man in search of their roots buried at the bottom of his spine
What a pleasent surprise to hear Armenian music. Reminds me of my childhood days of the family get-to-gethers and dance parties.
Thanks for the touch of Gurdjieff in the night!
Andrew Cronshaw's "The Unbroken Surface of Snow" is already such a favorite of mine. Wonderful to hear on New Sounds!
