Listen to a bit of new music for trumpet and electronics by Nils Petter Molvaer, from his latest, “Baboon Moon,” on this New Sounds program. There’s also music from a lovely collaboration record between a Senegalese singer/kora player Ablaye Cissoko and German-born trumpeter Volker Goetze, a late-night gem combining West African music and ethereal, atmospheric European jazz.
Plus, music from trumpeter Jon Hassell, and some music from Codona, featuring Don Cherry.

On episode #3301 of new sounds (02/13/2012), at around 23:24-23:30 EST, a beautiful sufi song was playing in the background as the host announced a program of sufi music. İt was followed by a some sort of scandinavian/slash tibetan trumpet music. Please be so kind to name the name of this song, and its performers, if possible. İ newly discovered this program and it is truly one of the most beautiful programs on the radio. Thank you for these inspiring sounds.
