For this New Sounds, listen to some international-sounding music from bands that blend influences from both sides of the Atlantic, and take your guess as to what nation is being invoked. Hear from guitarist Brad Shepik and his multi-ethnic experiences in various jazz-Balkan-improv-Klezmer collectives, as they inform his album-length suite, “Human Activity.” Also, French café music meets Tin Pan Alley which is then remixed by an electronica producer in the music of L’Ensemble Raye. Plus, newly-issued live recordings from Tin Hat, “Foreign Legion,” with their unique combination of old-world drones of various pump-organs, toy pianos and accordion, colliding with violin, guitar, and clarinet. And more.

Dankon pro bona internacia muziko!
I personally appreciate your comparison of Esperanto with World Music. For your information lyrical albums, cd's in the Esperanto language are being published regularly. I have been to 2 week-long concerts with about 100 Esperanto-speaking performers in Toulouse, France (2000) and in Elsinore, Denmark (2009). Your music at wnyc is also excellent.
