Great program Don Cherry is still so underrated. During the time he was in Sweden he was an enormous influence playing music which was the basis of World music. He played the music of Lars Gullin. He played with turkish drummer Okay Temiz using 7/8 & 9/8 times, Swedish sax players Bernt Rosengren and Tommy Kuverhult. He also played with first GONG group in 1968. Ram Narayan and Suresh Talwakar gave classes to a master class arranged by Don and he further took lessons from Ram Naraya on sarongi rhythms. I have even listened to tapes of Cherry playing with Peter Brötzmann around 1970. All this built up a unique knowledge which is so evident in your program. More please
Thanks Jerrin!
I've been listening to New Sounds for about 7 years now. I love it. Very good mix of original novel music pieces. I fall asleep to your show every night. This program literally takes you to a different world every night. Absolutely lovely programming. Keep up the good work.
