Show #2691
About the last klezmer piece you played: the "Doina" composed by Krakauer. It ends with a traditional vocal that is used for the Sheva Brachot, the 7 blessings at the end of a Jewish wedding feast. In Orthodox practice, there are additional feasts for 6 nights after the wedding, and the Sheva Brachot (7 Blessings) are recited during the Grace After Meals. As a cup of wine is passed around to 7 readers who make blessings with the cup in hand, this vocal is sung by all participants. So there is a joyous component at the end after all!
