Program #1902

Saturday, March 29, 2003

Host John Schaefer presents a sampling of music made with voices on tape. Jocelyn Pook's "Arsenal" uses technology to organize and sequence samples of football chants and then mix it with the sound of a string quartet. Brian Eno and David Byrne's classic "My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts" uses tape loops and raga-like song structures, capturing the two at the height of their powers. And Brian Ales weaves guitars and a bracing three-horn chorale with electronic percussion in his work "Mistakes." (pictured right: Jocelyn Pook)
