Philip Glass often gets his inspiration from some unlikely sources. In his Low Symphony, he takes his themes from the music of David Bowie and Brian Eno, and specifically from their album entitled Low. On this installment of New Sounds, we hear excerpts from this acclaimed 1993 work, which is divided into three movements: Subterrraneans, Some Are, and Warszawa. We also hear some selections from Low, as well as other early ambient music experiments by Bowie (whose birthday is today).
