Composer/multi-instrumentalist and virtual reality pioneer Jaron Lanier joins John in the studio. Lanier has been composing since before he’d ever touched a computer, and has studied music from all over the world. On this New Sounds program, Lanier presents music from his CD, “Instruments of Change,” a mostly acoustic record of classical music, but one that uses world instruments. Classical traditions of the Southeast and the West come together, along with medieval special effects like “hocketing,” and listeners are treated to a duo featuring Lanier and Barbara Higbie, among others.
